The Nova Zinfandel Vineyard
Planted in the mid 1960s, Nova Vineyard is
located on the bench lands of Kelseyville in Lake County, California. The
vineyard is on an ancient alluvial riverbed at 1600 feet elevation near the
base of Mount Konocti Volcano.
This Certified Organic Zinfandel Vineyard is
planted on a 10 x 10 spacing. It is being farmed for the highest possible
quality. We achieve this through proper timing of cover cropping, pruning,
suckering, leaf removal and adjusting crop load.
We also use the pressure
bomb, which is one of our great irrigation management tools. This helps
keep the berry size smaller, resulting in a richer, darker, more concentrated
wine. The bottom line is we do everything we can to give winemakers the best
Zinfandel fruit possible. All I ask for in return is the winemaker gives as
much effort in crafting the wine as we do in growing the winegrapes for the
winery.
Nova Vineyard has Old Vine Zinfandel (planted in
the 1960s). These
winegrapes are sold to several different wineries that have designated "Nova
Vineyard" on the label.
If you would like to sample our wines made
with Nova Vineyard grapes, there are many different vintages in the underground
cellar here on the ranch. Contact us to try some!
